The Trouble with Amber
I have spent very little time over the past few weeks watching the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. I have read a lot about it and watched what I needed to. It's easy to see that Amber is a troubled lady. I won't patronise her by saying she is young. She's in her thirties. Which is young. Yet to call her young in this situation is to devalue her experiences in life.
Her short-lived marriage to Johnny Depp was not the best time in her life, that is very easy to see, yet it is what she will be know for, for a very long time. This is because of an Op-Ed she wrote for the Washington Post back in December 2018. If you are unfamiliar with opinion articles then, very simply put, you can write what you like because the publication you are writing for will accept no responsibility for those words that you write. That is their big disclaimer.
I have never been neither here nor there about Johnny Depp over the course of my life or his career. I'm not a big movie fan therefore I don't follow franchises or anything like that. I cannot say that I have ever watched anything he has been in over the course of his career. I have looked through his list of credits, he's just someone I haven't watched. How did that happen?Amber Heard has now admitted that she cannot pay the money that the court has ordered her to pay after she was found to defame Depp. This is a much reduced amount that Depp sued her for. Charity fund raising pages have removed appeals for money. With good reason as well, scammers will hook onto this idea and have you donating left, right and centre while thinking you are donating to a good cause. Be cautious.
It is very easy to now berate Amber Heard over this huge defeat she has faced in court. We don't need to. She is a mother and she needs to get back to what is important and her life, her child. That is what she needs to concentrate on.
What she doesn't need now is hounded. We are very good, these days, via social media, of hounding people literally to death. Whatever you think of her, whatever you think of the trial, leave her alone. She has her demons to live with and she has a child to bring up.
